Fals (Bronze, 20 mm, 1.55 g), Tawwaj, AH 132 = 749/50. ‘sana ithnatayn / wa thalāthīn / wa miʾa’ (‘Year 132’ in Arabic); the marginal legend reads ‘bism Allāh mimmā amara bihī ʿAbd Allāh amīr al-muʾminīn bi Tawwaj’ (‘In the name of Allah. From that ordered by ʿAbd Allāh, Commander of the Believers, in Tawwaj’ in Arabic). Rev. ‘Muḥammad / rasūl / Allāh’ (‘Muhammad is the messenger of Allah’ in Arabic); the marginal legend reads: ‘qul lā asʾalukum ʿalayhi ajran illā al-mawaddata fi al-qurbā’ (‘Say: I do not ask of you any reward for it but love for my relatives’ in Arabic; Qurʾān 42: 23). Album M209. Extremely rare. Countermarked with a plain annulet. Some edge cracks, otherwise, very fine.
